      Baking 101


      Pies and Tarts

Who doesn't love the smell and taste of a homemade pie! Sherry will walk you through the steps of mixing, rolling and baking perfectly flaky pie and tart crusts. Sherry will demonstrate how to blind-bake a single crust pie, and prepare a classic two-crust pie for your favorite filling. Working in teams of two, we'll make a rustic Apple galette (free-form tart), coconut cream pie, blueberry hand pies, and tarte de citron (lemon tart). You'll enjoy tastes of all the pies, and take home any leftovers and your own blueberry hand pies to share with friends and family.

  • How to make a flaky pie crust
  • How to roll out and blind bake a single crust pie shell
  • How to roll out, fill, and bake a classic 2-crust pie
  • How to make free form tarts and hand pies
